Know When to Reach Out. Recognize the Signs of Crisis.

Call for support if you or someone you know shows warning signs of suicide risk:

  • Talking about wanting to die or to kill oneself
  • Talking about feeling hopeless, or having no reason to live
  • Talking about feeling trapped or being in unbearable pain
  • Talking about being a burden to others
  • Looking for ways to kill oneself such as looking online or buying a gun
  • Increasing use of alcohol or drugs
  • Acting anxious or agitated or behaving recklessly
  • Sleeping too little or too much
  • Withdrawing or feeling isolated
  • Showing rage or talking about seeking revenge
  • Displaying extreme mood swings
  • Behaving in self-destructive ways such as recklessly using drugs or weapons, or driving recklessly

Not all crises are suicidal crises. Call today if you or someone you know is showing signs of a personal or emotional crisis or severe distress:

  • Social withdrawal: loss of interest in hobbies, pleasurable activities
  • Depression: little or no pleasure in life, low energy, change in eating or sleeping patterns, feelings of worthlessness or extreme guilt, crying a lot for no reason
  • Unusual behavior: severe anxiety, panic, or fear, big mood swings, too much energy, trouble concentrating or following through, easily irritated or angry, racing thoughts or agitation, rapid weight loss, drug or alcohol abuse, unusual sensitivity to light and clothing
  • Troubling thoughts: hearing voices, seeing images that other people do not, believing others are plotting against oneself, wanting to harm oneself or someone else
  • Inappropriate expression of feelings: sudden hostility, indifference in highly important situations, inability to cry, express joy, or laughter
